Since agrarian communities haven’t assurances against possible risks ASSEFA has started social security programmes.

ANIMALS ASSURANCE
Animals breeding is one of the most important activities of ASSEFA projects. Owing to the great success of milk programme production the ploughmen’s number of animals has increased. The animals owners are very poor and so the sudden death of an animal weighs a lot on their income possibilties. To face this problem ASSEFA has proposed to the farmers owners of cattle to pay periodically a little insurance-premium. In case of the animal death or even an accident occured to it, the farmers receive a new animal or some money. The collected money is put in a common fund and the accumulated interest is used for financing veterinary science stages.

SOCIAL PENSIONS
ASSEFA is trying to create a social pension plan for women, moreover for the women involved in the production and commerce of milk. The idea is to keep a small amount from the payment of every litre of milk and a part of the profits got by each group. The collected sum will be invested for a long period of time and the accumulated interest will be given, as a kind of pension, to the members who have collaborated for some time to the milk production. These are only projects, not realized for the moment owing to legal difficulties. But there are concrete possibilities for the future.
